What's the technology behind CMP3?

CMP3 uses a flexible modular approach to process the content for different output channels and is able to generate different output formats.

This concept implies a series of transformations. Each module can replace or be adapted to individual needs.

This approach allows great flexibility in selecting the right output format. In addition, the output of each intermediate step can be used to be processed with external tools.

This results in final formats such as PDF which can be used directly for printing, or intermediate formats such as OpenDocument (ODF), DocBook or InDesign (ICML, XML) that can be processed accordingly.

Because of using industry standards XML and XSLT, almost
any target format is imaginable. It can be made of the wide range of XML-processing tools.

For the PDF output for example the XSL-FO is used as a layout description language. There are a lot of processors, like Apache FOP, that can be used to generate the PDF.

In addition to TYPO3, other data sources can be queried and their content are integrated into the target document.
